VOICE - Empowering Citizens and Communities
Building a national directory of community groups
VOICE is a lot more than just a webpublishing tool. It's also the beginning of a powerful nationwide directory of community groups. All VOICE websites get automatically added to a national online public directory www.e-voice.org.uk. Visitors to the directory can search for community groups in their area, or if they are interested in a particular type of community group (from a faith group, to a childcare group), they can search by category. Councils can also
enhance the directory by adding links to non-VOICE community websites.
So what benefits will the national directory provide?
- new residents to your local area can find and join community groups easily
- community group leaders can easily find and discuss issues with other similar community groups around the country
- as a council you can quickly identify, contact or consult with community groups in your area.
- central service providers can easily identify, contact or consult with specific types of community groups
How could the VOICE directory help me consult better?
Imagine wanting to consult on key issues from faith, to disability, to youth support, and being able to identify and easily contact all appropriate groups in your area. Or perhaps you are tackling a key issue and want to speak to other people and organisations who have faced the same issues or barriers.Pages in VOICE - Empowering Citizens and Communities
