Need help deciding on which approach to use?
Use these models as a guide
Here are 6 model templates, set out according to the different levels of participation and taking account of the needs of different stakeholders based on the participation scale from 'Why dialogue is different' by Richard Harris, Environment Council.
The model templates propose some participation methods that may be used according to whether the process is aimed at engaging an 'expert audience' or a 'public audience'.
Different eTools will be required for different audiences. They are intended as illustrations and food for thought, rather than exact prescriptions and you may also find it useful to refer to the design principles and the case studies in developing your design.
You may also want to learn more about the capabilities of eTools by visiting the section on What are some examples of e-participation methods and tools?
The following templates set-out a mixture of the types of participation (traditional methods) and e-participation (e-enabled methods) approaches you may consider in the design of an integrated participation strategy.
