The International eParticipation Symposium
The International eParticipation Symposium is back!
The second International Symposium 'Empowering Citizens Through Technology and Participation' and will take place between 28 and 29 of February, 2008 in the Congress Centre in London's West End. The event was launched in 2006 with twin Symposiums in Budapest, Hungary and Baltimore, USA. The Symposiums attracted 500 delegates from over 35 UK Local Authorities and 50 countries.
The 2006 event delivered:
- Launch of the International Centre of Excellence for Local eDemocracy (ICELE)
- Sharing of international best practice across Europe
- Creation of new partnerships for the delivery of eParticipation projects
- Publication of CLG and Council of Europe conference journal
Feedback from the first events was overwhelmingly positive - 98% of participants said they would attend the event again or recommend others to attend. This year, the Symposium organisers are working to incorporate delegates' suggestions to create an even better and more successful event.
Bigger and better than before, the 2008 Citizen Empowerment Symposium promises to deliver:
- Key themes with structured objectives
- Further best practice sharing by people who have actually delivered
- Achievement Awards
- Networks of like minded people
